Sri Lanka is a bright spot but the ‘big cat’ is in continent-wide decline. Sri Lanka was in uproar through most of June after a leopard was killed by villagers in a remote northern forest. Parliamentarians from across the political divide growled in support of the dead predator, newspapers published cutting commentaries and conservationists gnashed their teeth citing laws protecting flora and fauna. It was a fitting response in a country where the pulse of wildlife protection beats strongly.

The process is pretty complex. To compare the two charts, Vedic astrologers use the 36 Gunas system, Kale says. Each of these Gunas represents a quality, such as health and reproduction, dominance in relationships, sexual compatibility , and more. Is having compatible birth charts necessary for a happy marriage? It might not be, according to the Times of India.
In those times, you need those other factors to sustain a relationship. Whether a telltale sign of a successful marriage or not, astrology matching is an extremely compelling part of figuring out whether or not a romantic partner could be good for you in the long run. The energy lightens on Tuesday, when messenger Mercury forms a trine with innovative Uranus in retrograde.

By Carly Stern For Dailymail. A Washington, D. Michelle Jacoby has spent a decade introducing couples through her company, DC Matchmaking, but she found that some of her clients were hoping to make more meaningful platonic connections in addition to finding love. Loneliness is a problem that affects many adults. And many people find that it’s much more difficult to make new friendships as an adult than it was as a child, particularly with today’s unique challenges.
But just as there are dating apps for casual love-seekers and professional matchmakers for serious ones with a bit of cash to burn, so too now are professional matchmakers getting in on the friendship setup game. She decided to offer it as a service to her existing clients, and she quickly received more than interested responses. She and her husband Rob Slattery, who run the business together, advertise the services to a range of people who want to make friends for different reasons, including being shy or introverted, being newly divorced or widowed, or simply being tired of an old friend group.
With each client, they conduct video interviews and try to meet them in person to understand what they want in a friend. They considers things like age, stage of life, shared values and interests, and personality traits. Besties in the making: Each client is evaluated based on stage of life, values, and interests and then introduced to friend matches. They have already successfully set up several friendships. This summer, The Washington Post tagged along for a friend date between Noreen Butler, 46, and Rebekah Kelley, 51, two single entrepreneurs looking to make friends.
The women are both active, so Jacoby and Slattery set them up at an outdoor ropes course.

I will admit that there are times when I’m in my Leopard in a tier match that I say to myself But when the stars are in line, the planets all collide, and I actually end up in a match with a competent team my Leopard is the most dangerous tank on the field. Is a tier 10 medium a more effective scout then a tier 5 scout? In fact I would still argue that the tier 5 scout is just a little more effective all because they keep their camo rating on the move while a tier 10 medium does not, they can use cover that a big tier 10 medium cannot.

After years of matchmaking and a month pregnancy, an Indian rhinoceros gave birth last week at the Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium in Omaha, the zoo’s first rhino birth in its year history. The calf, believed to be a male, is the culmination of at least two years of behind-the-scenes work by zoo staff to cultivate a relationship between the zoo’s two Indian rhinos, year-old female Hellary and year-old male Jontu.
Monica Stoops, the zoo’s lead reproduction scientist, said the pair’s relationship was once one-sided, with Hellary often showing her interest to mate and Jontu meeting it with “annoyance. Stoops said that type of behavior isn’t uncommon for rhino pairs in captivity. She said males typically need to search out a mate, so placing the rhinos in the same space stunted their relationship. Also, both rhinos didn’t have any prior experience, further complicating zookeepers’ attempts to have them mate.
Zoo staff eventually turned to biology. They separated the rhinos during the day to simulate the “seeking desire” Jontu needed, Stoops said. Just before the pair were to be moved into the zoo’s new Asian Highlands exhibit last year, sparks flew and Hellary and Jontu finally mated.

They followed each other around the snowy hillside, which you can see if you drive along Pond Street in Stoneham, hissing and snarling and clawing at each other. Then they got, well, intimate. Coronavirus: How Covid has changed the ‘big fat Indian wedding’. India’s richest family caps year of big fat weddings. A new Netflix show, Indian Matchmaking, has created a huge buzz in India, but many can’t seem to agree if it is regressive and cringe-worthy or honest and realistic, writes the BBC’s Geeta Pandey in Delhi. The eight-part docuseries features elite Indian matchmaker Sima Taparia as she goes about trying to find suitable matches for her wealthy clients in India and the US.
In the series, she’s seen jet-setting around Delhi, Mumbai and several American cities, meeting prospective brides and grooms to find out what they are looking for in a life partner. Since its release nearly two weeks back, Indian Matchmaking has raced to the top of the charts for Netflix in India. It has also become a massive social phenomenon.
Hundreds of memes and jokes have been shared on social media: some say they are loving it, some say they are hating it, some say they are “hate-watching” it, but it seems almost everyone is watching it. The in-your-face misogyny, casteism and colourism on display have caused much outrage, but also inspired many to introspection. Ms Taparia, who’s in her 50s and like a genial “aunty” to her clients, takes us through living rooms that resemble lobbies of posh hotels and custom-made closets filled with dozens of shoes and hundreds of items of clothing.
That, though, is mostly with her Indian-American clients – where men and women in their 30s have tried Tinder, Bumble and other dating apps and want to give traditional matchmaking a chance to see if it helps them find love. The conversations back home in most cases happen with the parents because, as Ms Taparia says, “in India, marriages are between two families, and the families have their reputations and millions of dollars at stake so parents guide their children”.
As we progress through the episodes, it’s obvious it’s much more than just guidance. It’s the parents, mostly mothers of young men, who are in charge, insisting on a “tall and fair bride” from a “good family” and their own caste.
